The Playtime Co. Employee Safety Rules is a canon VHS tape that cannot be played or even seen in any area inside the game. Initially, it was only posted on Twitter[1], but it was later posted on Mob Entertainment's YouTube channel.

The tape was canonically created in order to welcome new employees being hired at Playtime Co. The tape goes over basic rules to said viewers before sending the employee off to their new job at the factory. Along with each rule and explanation, a letter would be seen next to each rule showcased. Combining all ten of these letters leads to Rowan Stoll's Twitter account.

Analysis

The tape begins with a disclaimer explaining that the contents featured in the videotape contains secrets and the tape was intended for personnel use of Playtime Co. and its subsidiaries. The tape then officially begins as an unknown employee attempt to connect a plastic toy pipe to another. The employee then looks at the camera as they are startled at the viewers presence.

The employee explains that the viewer must be excited for their new job at Playtime Co., however before they head to the factory floors to work, the two must talk about safety. The narrator, viewer, and Huggy all go over Playtime Co.'s Funfactory policies (F.U.N.F.A.C.T.O.R.Y being an acronym for Fundamentally Understanding the Need For Awareness, Cleanliness, Timeliness, Obedience, and Regulating Yourselves)

The narrator continues to cover all ten rules. The first rule asks all employees to wash their hands before they enter the factory floor in order to preserve sanitary across the factory and toys. Huggy Wuggy makes an appearance for each rule, and for the first rule, he can be seen with a bin of soap as he carries a loofah.

The second rule demands for employees to never leave their work stations despite any needs until the bell rings or permission from a supervisor. The narrator quickly states that alongside this rule, overtime is not permitted.

The third rule states for employees to be as silent as possible while working. Any unrelated noise not coming from machinery or general ambience will result may result in disciplinary actions. An example commences as Huggy Wuggy plays a flute. The narrator uses a hand pointer toy to quickly silence Huggy. Huggy's facial expression then appears to be a frown.

The fourth rule advises employees that you should not spread secrets or rumors to other employees as stated in section 3, page 42 of Playtime Co.'s toy handbook. Breaching this contract or the rule in general will result in termination. Huggy then starts to slowly pull out a red toy gun, in which the narrator states "not that kind of termination".

After a short intro, the camera fades into a person who is tinkering with child toys. The person notices the camera.

Narrator:
"Oh, hello! You must be our new employee- well gee! Welcome, come on in!"

"I bet your super excited to start having fun, making fun for all kids around the world! Hehe! "

The camera slowly turns to the right, and the narrator notices this

"Woah, where do you think your going there buddy? Look, I know its exciting but before we can get you out there on the factory floor, we gotta talk about safety, eh?"

Huggy Wuggy pops out from under colorful boxes and waves at the camera.

"That's right, because my pal Huggy says that, 'Fun is one part of Fundamentally Understanding the Need For Awareness, Cleanliness, Timeliness, Obedience, and Regulating Yourselves!"

"So come on! Let's get started!"

Narrator:
"Rule number 1! Always be sure to wash your hands before you enter the factory floor. Grubby hands mean grubby toys..."

"...And at Playtime Co., we like our toys nice and clean!"

Huggy Wuggy is seen in a bath, surrounded by bubbles and a little container of water as he holds a loofah.

"Huggy gets it!

Narrator:
"Now, rule number two! Everybody is excited to get home after a hard days fun, but you must never leave your station for any reason before the bell rings!"

"Not without permission from a supervisor. And there will be no overtime"

Narrator:
"Rule number 3! Fun takes focus, no distractions! When on the factory floor, please try to remain as quiet as possible! Superfluous auditory impositions on the environment may result in disciplinary actions!"

Huggy Wuggy is seen playing a flute, hitting a hammer, and humming a tune. The unknown narrator brings a wand with a finger, then pointing to Huggy's lips as the narrator shushes Huggy. Huggy appears with a frown after.

Narrator:
"Rule number 4! Secrets! I know you all want to go and tell all your friends about the exciting goings on here at Playtime Co."

"But you know what's even more exciting?"

"Why, the NDA rules laid down section 3, page 42 of your Playtime Co. toy handbook, of course! The breach of which, may result in termination"

Huggy Wuggy slowly pulls out a toy, red revolver.

"Woah there, Huggy! Not that kind of termination! Hah!

Narrator:
"Rule number 5! You must report anyone you see not following these rules to your supervisor! That includes, this rule."

"Anyone observed to not be reporting rule breaking they are currently observing has been observed to be breaking a rule, and should be reported immediately!

"Quickly! Before somebody reports YOU!

Narrator:
"Rule number 6. Smile! You're on camera! For your safety, we keep a watchful eye on everybody here at Playtime Co."

"Any attempt to interfere with Playtime Co. surveillance equipment will result in immediate termination!

While the unknown narrator is saying the prior line, a clip of Huggy Wuggy tampering with a camera with a wooden hammer is depicted.

"And speaking of Playtime Co. equipment, how about those GrabPack's, eh?

Narrator:
"Rule number 7. Our handy helpers may seem fun, but not everything in a toy factory is a toy!

"Always be sure to exercise caution when operating your GrabPack around heavy machinery..."

"...Or else you might end up..."

A dramatic screen and audio shows multiple whacky sounds heard and illustrated. Audio is implying some sort of accident."

"...In a tangle... Awwww... Serious injury, death, or dismemberment may occur."

Narrator:
"If you're experiencing hallucinations or symptoms of schizophrenia, you must report to your on-duty playtime position right away!"

"Reports of noxious and/or hazardous material used in the production of our toys are both entirely fabricated and highly exaggerated.

Huggy Wuggy is seen with a nurse hat, stethoscope, and is nodding to everything the narrator is saying.

"So if you are feeling under the weather, try drinking some water or breathing less deeply."

"Employees are liable for the safety themselves and those around them. Playtime Co. will not be held accountable for accidents, injury, trauma, physical or mental, or life-altering impairments up to and including death.

Narrator:
"Rule number 9. Employees are explicitly prohibited from entering restricted areas!"

"Authorization is given on a case-by-case basis and employees enter at their own risk. No 'ifs', 'ands', or 'buts'.

Narrator:
"Rule number 10. Don't forget to have fun! Working together to bring joy to children around the world here at Playtime Co. is a privilege.

"We just know if you follow these 10 simple rules, you'll be a great addition to the Playtime family!"

"We all start here, on the factory floor! We can't wait to see what you become!"

"Good luck on your first day. It's goodbye from me, and it's goodbye from Huggy. Goodbye!

Trivia

  • The actor for the narrator in the video is the Youtuber The Stupendium[2], and a reference to one of their Poppy Playtime Musical videos, 'The Toybox',[3] can be seen during the beginning of the video.
    • The Stupendium later revealed their initial direction for the video, where it got steadily creepier as it went, with the tape degrading and the host looking less and less comfortable/more forced as the video progressed, eventually going off the rails. The ending originally had them awkwardly waving as the sounds of screaming steadily overtook the audio on the tape. Because Mob Entertainment did the final edits, most of this was excised from the video.[4]
  • There is a continuity error in that the copyright for the video is dated to 1991, but boxes for Boogie Bot, who was created in 1993, are seen. This was most likely an unrealized error when reusing props from "The Toybox" to make the set.
The Toybox homage seen on the bottom right. Also, see the continuity breaking Boogie Boxes above.
