The Train is a vehicle found in the Game Station of the Playtime Co. factory. It debuted in Chapter 2: Fly in a Web of Poppy Playtime. It is used by The Player and Poppy Playtime to escape from the factory at the end of Chapter 2, but later derailed and crashed near Playcare.

Appearance

The Train has 8 rows of 32 round gold-colored wheels, which support the multi-colored locomotive, passenger cars, and caboose; these features gave the Train a noticeable appearance to children in the Game Station. It has two eyes sticking out of either side of the locomotive front, held up by curly metal coils and fitted into metal eye sockets, which give them a sad and droopy appearance. The Train doors are unlocked by using the Green GrabPack Hand. In Project Playtime, the locomotive is a 4-6-0 steam locomotive, with a tender with the numberplate unlike the Chapter 2 train, a bell at the front with the numberplate, resembling the Polar Express, a LARGE smokestack, it looks similar to the train in the Game Station from Chapter 2 albeit being a little more accurate to real life with the side rods, cylinders etc., it looks like Southern Railway 1102.

Chapter 2: Fly in a Web

The Train serves as The Player's main escape route from the abandoned factory, but in order to start the train, they need all 3 pieces of the Train Code, which are found and obtained throughout the natural course of the game. Towards the chapter's conclusion, The Player enters the Train Code correctly and boards the Train. As it starts to move, Poppy monologues about how she "can't let [them] leave", seemingly "betraying" The Player by changing the Train's direction, but is abruptly cut off before the Train starts to accelerate alarmingly, gaining speed that it can no longer handle. This causes the Train to later crash and derail, and fall on its side, right near Playcare.

Chapter 3: Deep Sleep

In Chapter 3 Teaser Trailer 2, the Train was revealed to have caught on fire after it crashed near Playcare.

Trivia

  • In the Chapter 2 Official Trailer, the Train had no green hand door, and there was no platform to get up to the train.
    • This is probably due to most of the trailer being in BETA.
  • The chugging sound made by the Train is reused from the 2004 Christmas movie The Polar Express.
  • When the Train starts speeding, it itself is not moving, but the entire tunnel is constantly generating more parts to accommodate the speed.
    • This causes a large model to move around through the map, invading on space and may cause lags and crashes.
    • It is presumed to have crashed at or near Playcare.
  • The scene where the train crashes is possibly inspired on the Malbone Street Wreck.
